   "* Sec. 2. AS 18.95.020 is repealed.                                                                                       
   * Sec. 3. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by                                                          
adding a new section to read:                                                                                                   
     CONDITIONAL EFFECT; NOTIFICATION. (a) Section 2 of this                                                                    
Act takes effect only if the Department of Public Safety adopts the                                                             
2024 International Building Code, International Fire Code, and                                                                  
International Mechanical Code under AS 18.70.080 before January 1,                                                              
2030.                                                                                                                           
     (b)  If the Department of Public Safety adopts the 2024                                                                    
International Building Code, International Fire Code, and International                                                         
Mechanical Code under AS 18.70.080, the commissioner of public                                                                  
safety shall notify the revisor of statutes in writing within 30 days after                                                     
the adoption.                                                                                                                   
   * Sec. 4. If sec. 2 of this Act takes effect, it takes effect on the day                                                   
after the date on which the Department of Public Safety adopts the                                                              
2024 International Building Code, International Fire Code, and                                                                  
International Mechanical Code under AS 18.70.080."                                                                              
                                                                                                                                
Representative Mears moved and asked unanimous consent that
